Close Enough – 2022
I am searching for the peculiar, coincidental, and or humorous. Looking for moments that are unremarkable in passing but become almost fictional when captured by the camera. Finding these moments and compositions has become one of my favorite games to play. However, it is a game that I don’t win often. In our chaotic world, losing is essential to life. Learning how to cope with the daily misfortunes of life will shape my human experience. The practice of walking and searching for compositions has become a meditative process for me. The walks are a time for me to reflect and make sense of the disorder that surrounds me. The work is reliant on luck, persistence, and practice. I walk for many miles, often searching for hours to find a scene. Despite the low win rate of this game I continue to play. In this game “the more you practice, the luckier you get”.
I am selfish with my image-making. I photograph for myself. The joy comes during the act of photographing, the images made are the records of that moment I found and the brief joy I felt. Everyone in this world has a unique human experience that will shape how they view the world, and how they view the moments I capture.
Photography and design by myself. Originally 30 copies were hand cut, folded, and bound via rubber band. An additional 25 copies were produced at Minuteman Press. Currently, copies are created per request. Please contact me if you are interested in receiving a physical copy or full pdf (gallery is select spreads only).
