Three Disc Boxset & Catalogue – 2020
Against All Logic has released two collections of auditory collages. The source material of these collages is cut from smooth 70’s jazz, soul, and rock. As well as modern sounds of 2000’s pop and hip hop which are chopped, stretched, layered, warped, and looped to create new electronic house and dance music. Against All Logic is the pseudonymous work of Nicolás Jaar. This work relies heavily on samples to drive the mood and rhythm of the songs. As a result of the diverse sounds sampled the sounds of the albums range from ambient and angelic, to alarming and abrasive.
Included in this boxset is two albums from Against All Logic, 2012–2017 and 2017–2019. The third disc, 1970–2013, is a compilation of the songs sampled in creation of the first two albums. Artwork of the boxset embraces digital collage and distortion of existing media to visualize the audio.
